Submissions Process

We are using Submittable to help streamline our submissions process. If you are having any problems with the site, please call us on 0141 332 4403 or email  info@playwrightsstudio.co.uk and we'll do our best to help you.

Playwrights' Studio, Scotland administers a script review service on behalf of A Play, a Pie and a Pint. This will assist the team in managing the increasing volume of scripts received for potential production at Òran Mór.

Because of the high volume of scripts we receive, this is not a full script reading service so, unfortunately, feedback is not available.

If you are interested in having your full play read, including feedback, we welcome eligible new plays as part of the  National Script Reading Service. This is a core Playwrights' Studio, Scotland service offering detailed, written feedback to help writers develop their plays and playwriting skills.

How does the Review Service work?

The first ten pages and the last ten pages of scripts submitted will be read anonymously by skilled professionals. They will then make a recommendation for further consideration to A Play, a Pie and a Pint.

Is my script eligible?

  • It is 45-50 minutes in length. Approximately 8000 - 9000 words equates to a 45-50 minute play.
  • It can be presented with no more than 3 actors.
  • It has not been produced elsewhere.
  • It is a play for live performance (not TV, film or radio).
  • It has not been previously submitted to A Play, a Pie and a Pint.

Only one script can be submitted per season. There are two seasons per year - the Spring/Summer Season (January - June) and the Autumn/Winter Season (August - December).

What happens next?

  • You will receive acknowledgement of receipt of your script by email immediately after sending your script to the above email address.
  • You will be notified within eight weeks whether your script has been recommended to A Play, a Pie and a Pint.
  • Please note that recommendation by the Script Review Service is not a guarantee of production by A Play, a Pie and a Pint.
